BIFA, the Business and Individual Freedom Association
BIFA, or the Business and Individual Freedom Association, is an organization that promotes Human Rights Defenders under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the Canadian Bill of Rights, and Canada’s international agreements on human rights. BIFA believes that governments that adhere to these rights provide the greatest degree of flexibility and creativity for a flourishing society. BIFA promotes four main principles, while also valuing all aspects of the charter. These principles are:
- Freedom of expression and speech, which is crucial for the development of an egalitarian, free capitalist society focused on sustainable value production. This right allows individuals and businesses to express themselves through their creations, such as art, comedy, property development, or digital entrepreneurship.
- Freedom of association, which allows individuals to group together based on shared values and goals. This freedom enables Canadians to join service clubs, unions, places of worship, political parties, or protest groups without being defined or discriminated against by their association with any one group.
- Freedom of assembly, which allows individuals to show support for their values and goals as groups. This freedom enables Canadians to fundraise for charities, attend political rallies or places of worship, or protest against government actions.
- Mobility rights, which guarantee Canadians the ability to pursue opportunities and meet with people to collectively create value for society.
We support action when rights are infringed!
